A seafaring visual essay.

An explainer video for a boat hire app. Set in a geometric ‘marina-scape’ featuring a pipe-puffing captain, a wise man, and naturally, boats!

The project is in response to a brief from the School of Motion ‘Explainer Camp’. The course covers all aspects of production from concept development and storyboarding; to animation, editing and sound design.

Style Frames

Style frame renders showing the final ‘look and feel’ of the explainer video.

Process

The development process of the project includes mood boards, storyboard sketches and style frame experiments to explore the visual concept of the video.

Experimentation

Short animation to experiment with camera zoom; depth-of-field shift; and play-doh like materials for creating a ‘clay-mation’ effect on the character.
